Using the official May 3, 2025 results, the two current working calculations are 5,745 or 5,805 valid signatures, depending on which official vote total the City Secretary applies. We will publish the confirmed number as soon as it is issued. The campaign’s collection goal will be higher than the legal minimum so invalid or incomplete entries do not put the petition at risk.

No. A qualifying signature must come from a registered McKinney voter. A qualified voter from any McKinney district may sign for all four named officials, including the district council seats.

The affidavit filed with the City Secretary names four officials: Bill Cox, Ernest Lynch, Geré Feltus, and Justin Beller. A recall petition can proceed only against the officers named in that filing and printed on the City Secretary-issued petition papers. This effort is limited to those four names.

The affidavit was received on August 11, 2026. The Charter then provides a 45-day window tied to the filing and the official petition papers. After the completed petition is filed, the City Secretary reviews it. If it qualifies, each named officer has five days to resign before the City Council orders a citywide recall election under state law.
